So what is the mainstream understanding of cancer?
Cancer is a general term for a group of diseases characterized by abnormal growth and the spread of aberrant or
Cancer is a disease which affects the cells of the body. The human body is made up such cells. In a healthy body
normally the cells multiply in a systematically and orderly fashion, however cancer occurs when they begin to spread in an
abnormally out-of-control fashion. The term cancer represents over 100 different diseases including malignant tumours,
leukemia (cancer of the white blood cells), Hodgkin’s and Non Hodgkin’s Lymphoma (both of which affect the lymph
So how are cancerous cells produced and spread?
As abnormal cells grow, they accumulate into a tumour or lumpy tissue. In some forms of cancer such as leukemia,
tumours are not formed however the abnormal cells affect the function of blood cells and circulate around the body.
Tumours may be classified as either benign or malignant.
Benign tumour is a mass of abnormal cells that are contained and do not spread to other areas of the body. These are
Malignant cancers on the other hand can spread beyond the original tumour site. It is the behavior of these tumours that
determines whether or not they are cancers.
Malignant cancerous cells can break free of their original location in the tumours and spread into the bloodstream or the
lymphatic system of the body and also lodge themselves into other body parts such as organs. When this occurs, the
infected areas will increase and healthy cells will gradually cease from working properly, resulting in their deaths.
Cause of cancer according to clinical medicine
In Australia the Cancer Councils (a national non-government cancer control organization with the aim of facilitating
prevention, research, support, and care) states the causes of cancer include chemical, physical and biological agents.
These substances cause cell mutation in the body and are collectively known carcinogens.
Carcinogens include substances such as tobacco, ultraviolet radiation and asbestos. New carcinogens however are now
becoming apparent these include cell phones and particular cancer causing viruses called oncoviruses. Oncoviruses
cause a disturbance in the DNA of the cell and causes the cell to behave incorrectly.
One in eight cancers and one in five cancer deaths are as a result of smoking in Australia. Excess alcohol consumption is
said to be responsible for one percent of cancers. Dietary factors have been also linked to the cause of cancer and there
have also been links to infectious agents, and very few are attributed to poor genes.
The Australian Cancer Council also states that stress it thought to contribute to stress however there is no solid evidence
According to the American Cancer Society, cancer affects approximately 1.22 million people in the US today and around
552,200 are expected to die each year. Over 15 00 die per day
In Australia there are 15,000 cancer deaths per year directly due to preventable causes, as stated by the Cancer Council
The following statistics is the approximate distribution of Breast Cancer sufferers alone world wide:
New cases per 100,000
Interestingly breast cancer in Eastern countries such as Japan and China are of the lowest in the world. It could lie in their
high consumption of green tea and soy rich foods which have been implicated in certain blood type for prevention and
management of cancer. It is also now well documented that the Western diet could may well be responsible for the high
cancer incidences, being on top of the list.*

Symptoms of cancer based on clinical medicine
A change in bowel movements and poor digestion may be a sign that a person has high levels of polyamines in the bowel.
Polyamines are chemicals that have been linked to cancer of the bowel and are mainly due to higher levels of toxicity in
Poor wound healing may be a sign of compromised immunity which therefore would predispose one to cancer.
Lumps in the breast or other parts of the body could indicate abnormal cell growth, benign or malignant tumours.
Other factors include unexplained bleeding or discharge, difficulty swallowing, changes in warts and moles, chronic
Blood types understanding of cancer
Blood Type science utilizes research from mainstream science while adding another dimension to help us understand
cancer from an individual standpoint. Blood type science enables us to understand why some people have a higher
likelihood for developing cancer than others and why recovery rates differ from person to person given certain diets,
medication, supplements and ways of handling individual lifestyles. Each blood type is different in how they deal with the
world outside the body. They have a uniqueness which determines how we deal each blood type deals with cancerous
Blood type science states that the chemical markers on the cells of our body determines our susceptibility to cancer.
These markers are called antigens. They are different in each blood type according to their chemical structure. Antigens
determine the type of immune response we have and affect our reaction to the world outside of the body. Substances we
react to include viruses, bacteria, parasites, chemicals and anything capable of decreasing immunity and causing disease.
The cells in our body are differentiated to perform specialized functions in different parts of the body. For example fat cells
look a certain way and behave like fat cells and not like muscle cells. The human body is sophisticated and goes to great
lengths to keep these cells differentiated. However when cells change and operate abnormally and unlike what it is meant
to be and do, dysfunction occurs leading to malignant cell growth and cancer.
Such cells are called ‘undifferentiated’ as they are not consistent in function and structure and may be always changing.
This ‘undifferentiated’ nature makes it difficult for the antibodies of our immune system to mark and fight them.
Blood Type antigens determines the way our body keeps cells differentiated. Due to poor lifestyle and diet, among other
things, our blood type antigens can be lost, enabling tumour cells to an opportunity to move a circulate around the body.
The thickness of our blood is also an important factor it plays a part in determining how quickly cancers can spread. It is
well documented that blood type A have thicker blood due to a higher level of clotting factors. This means when platelets
form in the blood, cancer cells can attach themselves more easily and spread to other parts of the body more readily.
So which blood types are more associated with cancer?
Most data that exists in regards to frequency of cancers according to each blood type are based mainly on existing
hospital statistics. Solid scientific evidence for proving the blood type links to cancer are still being discovered.
According to mainstream findings evidence suggests that blood type antigens do play a role in cancer. Current
mainstream research is focusing on the ABO antigens in the field of oncology. Antigens play an important role in cell
Generally most cancers are associated with blood type A and AB and are less associated with blood type B and O. The
reason for this is that tumours antigens which are sugar molecules have a similarity to blood type A antigens. Persons
with blood type A do not fight cancers as aggressively and efficiently because of the similarity of its own antigens and the
tumour antigens. Other blood types B and O do not have this similarity and their immune systems find it easier to identify
Viscosity of blood also influences the spread of cancers. Blood type A and AB are at higher risk as they have a naturally
higher level of clotting factors. Cancers are shown to spread more quickly in these types. Blood Type O and B have ‘thin’
blood which offer further protection against cancer.
The following table shows which blood type have been generally shown to be more susceptible to certain cancers:
So what can we do to specifically fight cancer?
The blood type diet can be used to boost the immune system and prevent cancer. It can also be used as an adjunct
therapy after chemotherapy, surgery and radiations treatments towards recovery. Each individual blood type antigen
determines whether a certain food is compatible with the blood type or not. Many foods contain proteins called lectins that
can bind to sugars (including blood type antigens) and thus agglutinate (or stick together) with the cells of certain blood
types but not others. This means that a food may be harmful to the cells of one blood type, but beneficial to the cells of
An integrative healthcare approach to cancer, using the best of both worlds by combining conventional methods and the
blood type protocols is highly recommended.
The main aim of being on the blood type diet is to minimize the load on the immune system in order for the body heal and
recover. In cancer the immune system is already severely compromised and depressed. Specific modifications need to be
Food falls into five categories of super beneficial, beneficial, neutral (allowed infrequently), neutral (allowed frequently)
The main modification from the blood type diet is to emphasize the use of super beneficial and beneficial food in the diet.
These foods have a medicinal affect in the specified blood types and can be used to enhance the immune system and aid

Contain components that enhance metabolism, immunity and structural health
Have no direct enhancing effect on the body in fighting cancer; however supply nutrients
These foods have no effect on the body but when consumed regularly can harm the body
These foods are harmful to the body and will prevent healing
LECTINS THAT FIGHT CANCER
Studies show that lectins are able to make abnormal and malignant cells stick together (agglutinate) and stopping them
Among the foods studied is soy protein. In low concentrations, it has been shown to agglutinate cancer cells and not
normal cells in blood type A and AB . Normal cells require soy protein lectins in much higher concentration for the same
In the same way, peanut lectins have been shown to prevent the growth of various forms of breast cancer cells in in Blood
type A and AB and also facilitate the destruction of the cancer cells themselves.
Please see list below for lectins that fight cancer in specific blood types
The following table shows some of the foods that are cancer fighting super beneficial for all blood types.
How is secretor status important in cancer?
The secretor status is a variation of your blood type which indicates whether or not your blood type antigens are located in
your body secretions (this is a major marker which indicates how one’s immune system is equipped for fighting cancer).
For cancer, we strongly recommend that secretor status testing be also done to further specify the diet to meet patients’
needs and to maximize healing potential. The secretor status test can be done at your nearest blood type practitioner.
Supplementation for Each Blood Type
The correct supplements according to your type can further support the body and maximize the potential for recovery. It is
important to communicate with your qualified or blood type practitioner and have them decide on the best regime for you

Enzyme Therapy Applications in the Treatment of Cardiovascular Disease, Cancer, Diabetes and Weight Management. As presented by Dr Lori Hallquist, enzyme therapist
It is important to understand that the role of the various enzyme therapies falls into one of three categories. They are:
Used for the purpose of creating and maintaining a baseline environment, to obtain the best efficiency of
Used for direct treatment of a condition.
Used for the purpose of enhancing absorption of nutrients.
The purpose of this presentation is to provide participants with an easily understood treatment plan and processes that
have predictable results dealing with the above four conditions and pathologies.
Virtually in every illness or disease treatment plan, enzymes can play a role, due to the versatility of enzymes and their
use. Before we begin to speak of each of the above conditions, it is important to understand why plant based enzymes
are so useful and why animal based pancreatic enzymes (mostly from pigs), are not useful. Plant based enzymes tend to
work exceptionally well, because they work in a wide range of pH (3 to 10), which is the range of most of the human
body’s chemical functions. Where pancreatic enzymes from pigs only work in a pH roughly of 8.0 to 9.0, very few human
processes function in this range. For this presentation, we will be referring to plant based enzymes.
Also, plant enzymes are indiscriminate, in other words, they operate in a predictable way all of the time. This provides the
practitioner with predictable outcomes, based on how and when you apply the use of the enzymes.
The third fact is that the entire basis of natural medicine is simply to apply the right materials, at the right time to interrupt
a disease process’ progression based on only two factors: supporting a person’s body to get healthy by providing it
something it needs and providing the right stuff that will interrupt a disease’s progression.
In order to understand haw to treat cardiovascular disease, we must first understand the causes.
Artherosclerosis – Plaque build-up causing a heart attack (Cardiac-Infarction)
Plaque that builds up on the arteries causing artherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Eventually, when
plaque builds up such that it slowly stops blood flow to the heart and the person eventually has a heart attack
(Cardiac infarction). This plaque build up is easy to eliminate, prior to the heart attack happening by simply
The plaque is made up of minerals and calcium that is glued to the inside of your arteries by hardened fats. So, to
eliminate this plaque in your arteries and prevent this from happening, all a person has to do the following:
Eliminate trans-fatty acids (hydrogenated oils, trans-fatty acids– deep fat boiling of food and margarine) and
reduce your total fat intake to less than 10 percent of your diet. That should consist mostly of the Essential
Fatty Acids – Omega 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 (oils from fish, flaxseed, olives and nuts).
Each night at bedtime, on an empty stomach, take 12 to 15 capsules of pure plant based Lipase, with a full (12
ounces / 1/3 litre) glass of water. The plant based lipase is a simple digestive enzyme that breaks down fats
(the glue part of the plaque). Lipase is an indiscriminate enzyme and breaks down all fats in the blood stream.
Taken at bedtime with no food in the bloodstream, the lipase will work all night, while you sleep. There are no
negative side effects with a natural plant-based lipase.
Take oral EDTA (ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid), an amino acid. This is taken with the lipase at bedtime
and again in the morning, upon initial waking. EDTA reacts with the calcium and other heavy metals and
Take Omega-3, essential fatty acids to emulsify the plaque’s fatty glue.
Clean up a person’s diet consisting of 50 percent lean proteins, 30 percent fresh vegetables and fruits and 10
percent or less intake of fats, which includes essential fatty acids. (Diet recommendations percentages are
This protocol should clean out a person’s system in between five and eight months. An average 50 year old adult,
who has a plaque-free vascular system will have a 92 percent better chance of avoiding plaque-related heart attack
in their lifetime and 35 percent to 52 percent less of a chance of developing cancers, as oxygenated blood will be
more freely available to all areas of the body.
Condition – Heart Disease known as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
This condition is a progressive disease. Its progression can be stopped and in fact reversed.
There are five basic elements that we will be using to help stop the progression and to cause reversal of the disease
process. They are iron, the amino acid L-Arginine, protease and lipase, large doses of the enzyme Co-Q 10.
To understand how to treat this situation, it is necessary to understand how this disease develops.
The disease (deterioration) process begins with a reduced profusion of “properly” oxygenated blood to all cells and tissues
in the body. This condition is called hypoxia. In a majority of these cases, this condition starts either with sleep apnea (a
condition where a person stops breathing while they sleep – resolved with the use of a C-pap ventilator); or, with either or
both, smoking cigarettes and other tobacco products and insufficient haemoglobin due to a lack of iron).
Oxygen is carried through the body by ferritins (iron), after the oxygen is picked up in the lungs. The ‘haemo’ part of
haemoglobin is the iron that rusts, or oxidizes, when it takes on oxygen and then delivers it to your cells; and the ‘globin’
part of haemoglobin is the part that takes used carbon dioxide from your body and gets rid of it in your lungs, as you
breathe. If your iron is low, it is not picking up enough oxygen. As a person smokes cigarettes, the tars and nicotine coat
the alveoli (air sacs) of the lungs. The thicker the coating, the more the oxygen and carbon dioxide gases are blocked
from passing through, into and out of the blood. When the tars and nicotine harden and prevent enough lung expansion
and the flow of oxygen and carbon dioxide, the person is diagnosed with COPD (emphysema). Conventional medicine
says that this is always progressive and never reversible. This conclusion is not true – but, is not part of this presentation.
Because there is a reduction of blood oxygen, your body adds calcium to the smooth muscle tissues in your blood
vessels. That calcium causes the muscles in the vessels to tighten, causing the arteries to constrict, making the vessels
narrower and thus, the person’s blood pressure rises.
Because the person’s blood pressure rises, their heart must work harder and the person’s heart muscle grows from the
exercise. This is called cardio-myopathy (enlargement of the heart). High blood pressure is also a leading indicator of
erectile dysfunction in men and can cause renal failure (kidneys). Just a quick note on erectile dysfunction: The active
ingredient in many of the medications related to ED in Cialis and Viagra, is nitric oxide. The nitric oxide is a temporary
resolution, as it causes a short term reaction to pull calcium out of the vascular smooth muscles, as it temporarily reacts
with an enzyme. Because there in no additional L-arginine or the enzyme arginase reactions going on, the relaxation of
the vascular walls that allow blood to flow freely into the penis is only temporary. Calcium re-regulate back into the
vascular smooth muscles and the ED and the high blood pressure continues. If iron and L-Arginine are used longer term,
the vascular constriction would go away and the person would no longer suffer from high blood pressure or erectile
Because calcium is being taken from other parts of your body and pushed into your vascular structures, your body
becomes deficient in calcium in your skeletal muscles to allow you to move and move around. Just as calcium causes the
muscles in your vessels to contract, it also does so in your skeletal muscles. If your body detects a lack of calcium, it will
react and hoard calcium, storing it in the high density muscles of your body. These are your calves, in women the uterus
and in a person’s heart muscles. This is why leg and foot cramps, and really hard and painful menstruation cramping is a
signal that you are deficient in calcium. The sign for excess storage is because your body is trying to preserve it
After step four occurs, your doctor will eventually tell you that you suffer from Congestive Heart Failure (CHF).
Step One – Take 10 mg to 15 mg of Iron, three times a day with food for five to six months; or, until Target Cells are no
Step Two – After eight weeks of Iron, add 1,100 mg to 1,200 mg of L-arginine to in the morning, upon waking and a
second dose at bedtime with water. The L-arginine will react with the enzyme arginase-creating nitric oxide, known as
NO. Nitric oxide combines with another enzyme that pulls the excess calcium out of the vascular muscle, allowing them
to relax and dilate back to it normal circumference.
Step Three – Take 300 mg to 1200 mg of Co-Q 10. The Co-Q 10 will help the heart return to its normal size, as it doesn’t
have to work so hard, it will atrophy back to its normal size and function.
Step Four – Ensure that your overall tissue mineral is corrected, so your body will stop storing it in the dense muscles. At
this stage, your cardiologist will find that your blood pressure has returned to normal. You will have plenty of energy and
will no longer feel lethargic, your leg and foot cramping should have stopped and your CHF will no longer be found by
During the entire six to nine months, use high doses of protease and lipase to break down fats and proteins keeping the
blood purified and cleaned. This is done one to two times each week, at bedtime and on an empty stomach.
When dealing with cancer of any kind, take this disease seriously and be aggressive about getting the patient started on
the protocol materials immediately. The person’s greatest chance of having a positive outcome is dependent on three
characteristics. The first is early detection and rapidly assessing the person’s general health and taking corrective action
as soon as possible. The second is to build the body’s capacity to detect and eliminate the cancer cells as quickly and
aggressively, as possible. The third is to recognize and track the progress, regularly and then adjusting accordingly.
Note from Dr Lori Hallquist: In my practice, I have developed a very good working relationship with an oncologist. We
work together with patients to develop and monitor our treatment plans, to ensure the best possible outcome. The results
have been staggering as to the number of patients that have moved into remission and remained there for a long term
The internet is full of wild claims and theories that are supported by attribute information and testimonials. However, there
are only a very few products that I’ve found has predictable and significant results. If a nutritional supplement will work
against the cancer cell, as a treatment, then it is considered a drug in the US. Therefore, the material is then controlled by
the US Food and Drug Administration. The materials that we deal with, are not meant to kill the cancer directly. The
materials and processes that integrative practitioners work with and manage, are to impact either the physiological
functions that promote and the body’s capacities that normally prevent and mitigate cancer’s development or to interrupt
one or more of the cascading processes and conditions in the body, that will result in either retarding or eliminating growth
of a tumour, or to allow the body to overcome and eliminate the cancer.
It is important to understand that every living person has cancer cells that develop in their body everyday. The five
biggest causes of cells becoming malignant and becoming cancerous are genetic damage done:
poor cell division, due to a lack of calcium protection of the telomeres;
carcinogenic agents such as cigarette smoking.
When a cell becomes malignant, it undergoes a change where that cell starts to divide rapidly trying to grow tissue rapidly
and without limit. Even if the cell breaks off and travels through the lymphatic or blood stream and lodges in another
organ. The cell carries the DNA from its originating location. The average growth rate of a cancer cell, taking into
consideration the slow growing and the rapidly growing cells is about one cell division every three weeks. So, if we start
with one cell, in three weeks we have two, three weeks later four, three weeks later eight, three later 16, then 32, 64, 128,
256, 516, etc. By the time it is detected, the cancer tumour consists of several billions of cells.
Human DNA contains a suicide gene. So, when the cell becomes malignant, your first line of defense against cancer, is
the gene detects that the cell is damaged and activates a cell shutdown, causing the cell to die. This is your first line of
defense against cancer. When the suicide gene is damaged or is recessive so it does not present itself, the cell does not
shut down and the second line of defense kicks in. This second line of defense rests in specialized white blood cells,
called NK (natural killer) cells. These cells represent about 15 percent of lymphocyte white blood cells.
Normally, your NK cells flow through your blood and lymph system. When the cell happens upon a malignant cell that has
not died in your first line of defense, it attached itself to the side of the cancer cell, drills a hole in the side and injects
granules that explode, killing the cancer cell. Normally, the NK cells take about 3.5 minutes to kill a cancer cell. When
finished, it detaches and continues to travel until it happens upon another one. The system works pretty well, unless the
NK cells get stuck in tissue, remaining dormant and ineffective, allowing the cancer cell to divide uninterrupted.
Now that we know how it starts, the five conditions that normally spawns it and how your body normally fights it off,
preventive and defense process enhancement is a matter of knowing what will ameliorate the common causes and what
will enhance your body’s ability to kill the existing cancer load and prevent further growth. Obviously, there are other
much more complexities involved. However, the use of the right substances and an integrated approach with standard
and complimentary treatment combined, a patient will have a substantially greater chance of remission and long-term
prognosis than with either treatment mode by itself. It is simply a process of interrupting that pathological process that
develops cancer, how a person can enhance the body’s ability to prevent it and how can we make a substantial difference
The proper use of enzymes in digestive and carrying nutrients to your bodies cells is essential to good health. The use of
high dose protease and lipase will clean up a patient’s blood. In doing so, the transportation of nutrients and the
elimination toxic sludge in a person can be cleaned up and made pristine. This allows for better transportation and
breakdown of toxic materials, making them inert. As good nutrients enter the cell, an equal amount of cell garbage and
toxic materials is released. The next dose of enzymes will break down the material so your body will eliminate it easily.
When your liver cannot handle the toxic load, it encases the toxic materials in fats so your body will try to store it in your
fat cells. We call this material bind fibrin. The fibrin causes a person’s blood to be so traumatized that it forms into a
Roulou condition. The use of protease and lipase will eliminate this condition and bring your blood into a normal
condition. This is a base level of support.
Enhance NK Cells Cancer Killing Activities
The ingestion of 3,000 mg of an arabinoxylin daily, has shown in research to increase the killing activity level of NK cells
of up to 300 percent to 700 percent, with no negative side effects, in about six to eight months. It is like having these NK
cells in speed. If a person was ensure that they were remaining mobile (Swedish Massage), the NK cells will increase
their efficiency and kill cancer cells much more effectively and at a faster rate. When the cancer is gone and the patient
stops taking the arabinoxlin, the NK cells return to their normal activity with no damage or difficulty. There are no known
Retard Growth with an Anti-Angiogenesis Product
There are herbal products that emit a chemical that cleans out the hormone that cancer cells emit, to get blood vessels
built to feed the tumor’s growth. It acts effectively as an anti-angiogenesis.
One of the difficulties of chemotherapy, is that it tends to reduce the red and white cell counts and weakens patients. The
use of gluconutrients, will actually enhance the development of red and white blood cells, allowing the chemotherapy to
continue to be used longer to obtain a better kill ratio. Instead of the chemotherapy running a healthy person’s system
down, I actually have patients whose system continues to improve, while undergoing high doses of chemotherapy.
The clean-up is a long process. Enzyme and vitamin therapy to detox a patient’s body in both the blood and at the cellular
level, and creating a positive health environment is extremely important in mitigating the negative effects of
chemotherapies and improve the health of the patient.
Note from Dr Lori Hallquist: When your patient starts on the chemotherapy, adriamyosin, which is a common drug of
choice for inflammatory breast cancer, 600 mg to 900 mg per day of Co Q 10. This will prevent the development of drug
Diabetes is identified in two ways. The first or Type 1 diabetes is a condition where adequate insulin is needed to be
injected, several times a day in order to process and open the gate way to absorb food. The second type or Type 2
diabetes is a systemic resistance to the absorption of nutrients through the gateways into the body’s cells.
In diabetes the use of a digestive enzyme mix, allowing nutrients to enter the cells efficiently allow for better health and
better nutritional support. The daily dosage of a really good multivitamin at 130 percent of recommended on the label is in
order. We need to get the nutrients into the cells to make a difference in breaking down the body’s resistance to
Type 2 diabetes can be controlled through diet, exercise and excess body fat loss, the use of digestive enzymes with
For Type 1 diabetes (insulin-dependant), there is some wonderful research with insulin dependency occurring. In the
experiments, insulin producing beta cells have been regenerated in dogs whose insulin producing cells have been
Insulin-dependent diabetes tend to have a litany of trickle down “collateral conditions” that are devastating to the patient
and easily avoided, as they all have one main cause. These include early blindness from what is sometimes mistakenly
called ‘macular degeneration’, wounds that won’t heal, peripheral vascular occlusions caused by a rapid build up of
vascular plaque (causing gangrene and eventually amputations of limbs and renal failure).
Avoiding this vascular calcification is the very best approach to avoiding these conditions. With insulin dependant
diabetes, a person’s vascular becomes calcified very quickly. Within 10 to 15 years, an adult can calcify into complete
vascular occlusion and gangrene, by the time the person is in their early 40s. Just like the protocols for the
Athlerosclerosis, treat it in the following fashion.
The plaque is made up of minerals and calcium that is glued to the inside of your arteries by hardened fats.
Eliminate trans-fatty acids (hydrogenated oils, trans-fatty acids– deep fat boiling of food and margarine) and
reduce your total fat intake to less than 10 percent of your diet. That should consist mostly of the person’s daily
intake of essential fatty acids – Omega 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 (oils from fish, flaxseed, olives and nuts).
Each night at bedtime, on an empty stomach, take 12 to 15 capsules of pure plant-based lipase, with a full (12
ounces / 1/3 litre) glass of water. The plant based lipase is a simple digestive enzyme that breaks down fats
(the glue part of the plaque). Lipase is an indiscriminate enzyme and breaks down all fats in the blood stream.
Taken at bedtime with no food in the blood stream, the lipase will work all night, while you sleep. There are no
negative side effects with a natural plant based lipase.
Take oral EDTA (ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid), an Amino Acid. This is taken with the lipase at bedtime
and again in the morning, upon initial waking. EDTA reacts with the calciums and other heavy metals and
sweeps them away. If you can find a licensed person who can provide this EDTA through a Meyers Push as an
EDTA sulfide, or a three hour IV, as EDTA Hydrochloride. It is much more efficient way to get EDTA in and
active, rather than orally. EDTA introduced through an IV will take about 30 infusion sessions. I recommend a
Meyer’s Push delivery method or oral. Precaution – be sure and check for operating tissue calcium levels often
as you move through the middle to last few months, through the use of Lowenburg’s Tissue Mineral Test.
Take Omega 3, essential fatty acids to emulsify the plaque’s fatty glue, daily.
Clean up a person’s diet consisting of 50 percent lean proteins, 30 percent fresh vegetables and fruits and less
than 10 percent fats, which will be Omega essential fatty acids. (Diet recommendations percentages are
If proper profusion is not maintained, all of the difficulties that are now considered as a normal part of having insulin-
dependent diabetes will be come a reality. If the rapid calcification can be cleaned out of the arteries, proper profusion
can be maintained and all of these issues prevented. In an average normal adult life time, if an insulin-dependent diabetic

excellent, none of these collateral issues will present.
There is no other treatment issue that is as emotionally driven than body composition management. Our very identities
are tied to both health indicators and our individual desirability and sexuality. It is estimated that the number one problem
facing industrialized society is obesity.
In the US, health care standards were released by the government called the Body Mass Index. This gauge is a math
formula based on age, gender, height and total body weight. This calculation of what the index considers ‘ideal’ is an
inappropriate measure. The idea of the index is that a person that is over or under their ideal calculation is in a condition
of a progressively increased health and mortality risk. This is not the case and the assumption used to create the Body
Mass Index did not take into account those people who are more muscular and therefore, weight more or the same as
those who weight more due to the accumulation of excess body fat.
The true calculator of Body Composition and good health is the percentage of body fat stores, in its relationship to the
person’s total body weight. The numbers generally fall in the following categories.

Enzyme Therapy – The Basics Prepared by Dr Lori Hallquist, enzyme therapist ENZYMES are needed for every chemical reaction that takes place in the body. ENZYMES are catalysts. They make things work. ENZYMES are connected to every working organ in our body and run our life’s ENZYMES are needed by vitamins and minerals to accomplish their delivery ENZYMES are required by all food to create an enzymatic action to be digested. ENZYMES become inactive by processing food or cooking food over 116 degrees. ENZYMES can prevent partially digested proteins from putrefying,
carbohydrates from fermenting, and fats from turning rancid within your system.
ENZYMES from plant sources become active as soon as they enter the body. It
takes moisture and heat to activate them.
ENZYMES from an animal source only work or are activated within the small
intestine in an alkaline setting of pH 8.0 to 8.5.
1. WHAT ARE ENZYMES?
Enzymes are energized protein molecules found in all living cells. They catalyze and regulate all biochemical
reactions that occur within the human body. They are also instrumental in digestion. They break down proteins, fats,
carbohydrates and fibre making it possible to benefit from the nutrients found in those foods while removing the
toxins. Enzymes turn the food we eat into energy and unlock this energy for use in the body. Their presence and
strength can be determined by improved blood and immune system functions.
a. WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF ENZYMES?
There are three types of enzymes. Our bodies naturally produce two types, digestive and metabolic enzymes as
they are needed, while food enzymes can only be consumed orally.
Metabolic enzymes speed up the chemical reaction within the cells for detoxification and energy production. They
enable us to see, hear, feel move and think. Every organ, every tissue, and all 100 trillion cells in our body depend
upon the reaction of metabolic enzymes and their energy factor. Metabolic enzymes are produced by every living
cell. However, the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and other organs play a vital role in their production.
Digestive enzymes are secreted along the digestive tract to break food down into nutrients and waste. This allows
nutrients to be absorbed into the bloodstream and discard waste. Human digestive enzymes include ptyalin, pepsin,
trypsin, lipase, protease, and amylase. The body does not make cellulose, an enzyme necessary for proper
digestion of fibre, so it must be introduced through the raw foods we eat.
Food enzymes are introduced to the body through the raw foods we eat and through consumption of supplemental
enzyme fortifiers. Raw foods naturally contain enzymes, providing a source of digestive enzymes when ingested.
However raw food manifests only enough enzymes to digest that particular food but not enough to have any support
systemically. The cooking and processing of food destroys all of its enzymes. Since most of the foods we eat are
cooked or processed in some way and since the raw foods we do eat contain only enough enzymes to process that
particular food, our bodies must product the majority of the digestive enzymes we require. For these reasons, it is
recommended that we supplement our diet with enzymes.
Pancreatin is a substance from the pancreas of the hog or ox containing enzymes. Pancreatin contains proteolytic
enzymes (enzymes that break down protein), amylase and lipase. This enzyme has been studied extensively for its
anti-inflammatory properties. Pancreatin has been used successfully in Germany for fortifying the pancreas in a
Pepsin is a proteolytic enzyme usually prepared from the stomach of pigs and is the principle digestive component
of gastric juice. It is usually given to those whose digestion of protein is impaired. However, pepsin is only activated
at a temperature higher than normal body temperature.
Bromelain is a group of proteolytic and milk clotting enzymes derived from the pineapple stem. A concentrate of this
enzyme can be used as an anti-inflammatory agent, a meat tenderizer, and in the chill-proofing of beer. Like pepsin,
bromelain is only activated at a temperature higher than normal body temperature.
Chymotrypsin is a proteolytic enzyme taken from the pancreas of ox and pigs. This enzyme requires a pH level of Trypsin is a proteolytic enzyme formed in the intestine and can be taken from the intestine or pancreas of an animal.
Trypsin breaks down L-Arginine or L-Lysine and works only in an alkaline setting. Today, it is often coated so that it
can make it to the 8.0 pH occurring in the small intestine. It is commonly used to fortify the pancreas and the small
b. WHY ARE ENZYMES NECESSARY FOR GOOD HEALTH? Plant-based enzymes are the most popular enzymes found in natural food supplements. The four most common
are protease, lipase, amylase and cellulase. They represent about 80 percent of the market. They are sourced from
aspergillus and grown in a laboratory setting on plants. They are called plant based, microbial and fungal. Of all the
choices, plant based enzymes are the most active or potent. This means they contain the highest active unites and
can break down more fat, protein and carbohydrates in the broadest pH range than any other source.
Plant-based enzymes are useful to develop and maintain a proper digestive system and to allow the body to produce
more metabolic enzymes by reducing the need to produce digestive enzymes. They can also be used in varying
Aspergillus enzymes have a strong record of safe use in the food industry and are considered food by the FDA.
These enzymes can be taken with meals to aid in the digestion of all foods or between meals to feed and fortify the
body as a whole. Plant based enzymes are not disposed of as if the body has no need for them, rather they exit only
after there is no more activity left to do their work. Since they are food which is natural to the body, and since they
are the most potent, they are often preferred over other types.
c. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ENZYMES? Enhance blood. Is it possible that an enzyme can clean up the blood? It is a knownfact that fungal forms, parasites
and bacteria are made up of protein and the shell that protects a virus in our bodies is in fact a protein coating. The
enzyme protease breaks down proteins and since the invaders of our blood system are protein, it would make sense
that ingesting protease on an empty stomach is suggested since the protease would not have to be held in the
digestive system to digest food protein.
Enzymes in general deliver nutrients, carry away toxic wastes, digest food, purify the blood, deliver hormones by
feeding the fortifying the endocrine system balance cholesterol and triglyceride levels. All of these factors contribute
to the strengthening of the immune system.
Break down fats. Lipase breaks down (digests) fat. When added to your meal as a supplement it is able to do this
in the digestive tract. This takes stress off the gallbladder, liver and pancreas. When taken between meals, they can
be of great support systemically and in some cases stored in the liver for later use.
Shed excess weight. Many overweight people have metabolism imbalance or will soon create one. The endocrine
system is our metabolism. Once we are able to fortify the endocrine system, get the bowels working regularly, and
digest our food rather than turning it into fat, we have a successful combination for losing weight. This process is not
instantaneous, because we have to lose fat instead of weight. A person has to lose a great deal of fat to equal one
pound of weight. It takes longer, but it is healthier and lasts longer. Best of all, it does no harm.
Enhance mental capacity. Your body uses glucose called from the liver to feed and fortify the hypothalamus. The
hypothalamus directs our endocrine system and is responsible for, among other things, balancing emotions. This
long lasting glucose is made from the protein stored in the liver. All plant enzymes come from protein foods, thus
they help fortify the liver for this function. Red blood cells carry oxygen and nutrients to the glands, muscles, and all
the organs of the body, including the brain. Nutrients however, can only be delivered throughout the body by means
of the enzyme delivery system. When this is not accomplished, you become fatigued and are less able to think
Improve ageing skin. An adequate supply of enzymes is absolutely essential for keeping your skin young-looking
and healthy. According to researchers, Amber Ackerson and Anthony Cichoke in Portland, Oregon, enzymes fight
the aging process by increasing blood supply to the skin, bring with it life-giving nutrients and carrying away waste
products that can make your skin look dull and unhealthy.
d. HOW ARE ENZYMES DIFFERENT FROM HORMONES?
These substances are both proteins, they are coded for by DNA. They both fit together with their target by a lock
and key fit, in other words their form or shape is very important to the way they function and mutation in the DNA can
affect that shape. But hormones are informational molecules, in other words, they travel through the blood to signal
distant parts of the body to do something. Human growth hormone signals call division and bone growth. It only
works on cells that have the proper receptor or ‘docking station’ on their surfaces. Enzymes are catalysts; they make
chemical reactions go faster than they normally would so metabolism can take place at a useful rate.
2. WHAT ARE SYMTOMS OF ENZYME DEFICIENCY?
Enzyme Research products are intended to aid in the correction of nutritional imbalances. The fortifiers are also
designed to be used under direction of health care professionals in enzyme therapy.
Protease Deficiency: Protease digests protein. The benefit of proteolytic enzymes has been studied for decades primarily in the United
States, Germany and Japan primarily. Research has focused on immune support, inflammation and cancer.
Since everything that makes us sick is either protein or is protected by protein, the immune system is in constant
need of protease enzymes. Bacteria, parasites, and fungal forms are all protein. Viruses and cancer cells are
protected by protein. Protease has the ability to digest this unwanted debris in the blood. Therefore, protease
deficient people are immune compromised, making them susceptible to bacterial, viral and yeast infections and a
Amylase Deficiency: Amylase digests carbohydrates (converts them to sugars) along with dead white blood cells. When you are low in
mmylase you are a candidate for blood sugar imbalances, hypoglycemia, Type 2 Diabetes, carbohydrate cravings
and allergies. Amylase is also involved in anti-inflammatory reactions such as those caused by the release of
histamine and similar substances. Asthma and emphysema may also be exacerbated by an amylase deficiency.
Lipase Deficiency: Since lipase digests fat, fat-soluble vitamins and balances fatty acids, lipase deficient people can be expected to
have a tendency towards high cholesterol, high triglycerides and difficulty losing weight. The future outcome of these
tendencies is heart disease, which kills more Americans than any other disease. Lipase deficient people also have
decreased cell permeability, meaning nutrients cannot get in and the waste cannot get out. The condition of vertigo
and labrynthis, also called Meniere’s Disease (dizziness aggravated by movement such as walking or driving), can
Cellulase Deficiency: The symptoms of cellulase deficiency can best be described as mal-absorption syndrome (impaired absorption of
nutrients, vitamins, or minerals from the diet by the lining of the small intestine). Mal-absorption has many symptoms
including lower abdominal gas, pain, bloating and problems associated with the jejunum and pancreas. The
consumption of fibre enriched nutritional drinks, which are full of cellulose, can exacerbate these problems.
A cellulase deficiency can also lead to fungal overgrowth such as candida. The cell wall of candida contains chitin
which is very similar to cellulose (fibre). This can often make it difficult to remove fibre once an overgrowth develops.
Cellulase taken orally can often assist in bringing the candida overgrowth back into balance.
Cellulase breaks down the fibre in our diet. Because our body does not product cellulose, this food enzyme is
essential. The lactase-deficient people also have classic symptoms which include abdominal cramps and diarrhoea.
Other allergy symptoms, including asthma, have been witnessed from the ingestion of lactose-containing products.
Sucrase, Lactase & Maltase Deficiency: People who have malabsorption syndrome and cellulose deficiency also have a tendency towards sugar
(sucrose, lactose, and maltose) and/or gluten intolerance. Sucrose, lactose and maltose are three common sugars
which some people cannot tolerate. They are broken down and absorbed into the system by three enzymes:
Sucrase deficient people cannot split the sucrose disaccharide into twin partners, two units of glucose. Glucose is
a primary brain food so expect mental and emotional problems in people who are sucrase deficient. Symptoms
include depression, moodiness, panic attacks, manic and schizophrenic behavior and severe mood swings.
Maltase Deficiency: Maltase deficient people are generally sensitive to environmental conditions. An intolerance to sucrose, lactose and
maltose may be worsened by a deficiency in sucrase, lactase or maltase.
Combination Deficiency: Combination Deficiency is when an individual has more than one of the above deficiencies. The person will most
often have the most severe digestive issues. Crohn’s Disease, Colitis, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome are quite
Gluten grains can be a real problem. These grains include wheat, oats, rye and barley. Not everyone has to avoid
all four grains; however, sometimes it is a must. Gluten intolerance is associated with Celiac Disease and Mal-
absorption Syndrome. It is also associated with Crohn’s Disease. Gluten is actually a protein that exists in these
high carbohydrate grains. The best way to address this is usually a high-potency protease and amylase enzyme
The insidious thing about gluten intolerance is that it creates a sugar intolerance because when gluten intolerant
people eat gluten containing foods, the brush border cells of the jejunum are injured and thus unable to secrete the
disaccharidases (sucrase, lactase and maltase) leading to sugar intolerance. The problems discussed here are just
the tip of the iceberg. More discoveries continue to emerge as research with food enzymes continues.
THERAPEUTIC USES OF ENZYMES If enzymes truly are catalysts which participate in virtually every bodily process, and if a shortage can cause a
variety of illnesses, then why are they not widely used as a treatment? It is certainly true that they are no widely
used here in the Americas, but what about other countries? In Europe, enzyme therapy is routinely used to treat a
The one thing we must all be able to do is digest, assimilate, utilize, eliminate and create healthy cells to live. The
body requires enzymes to do all this work. If it is true the body uses 80 percent of its energy just to digest food, there
can be no limit to the benefit of plant based enzymes in this process.
Protease: It is known that proteases are able to dissolve almost all proteins as long as they are not components of living
cells. Normal living cells are protected against lysis by the inhibitor mechanism. Parasites, fungal forms, and
bacteria are protein. Viruses are cell parasites consisting of nucleic acids covered by a protein film. Enzymes can
break down undigested protein, cellular debris, and toxins in the blood, sparing the immune system this task. The
immune system can then concentrate its full action on the bacterial, viral or parasitic invasion.
Protease is a polymorphic enzyme. The enzyme action it produces can adapt to meet the current digestive or
metabolic needs of the body. It should be noted that protease when taken on an empty stomach is readily taken up
into the mucosa cells of the intestine and passed into the blood circulation. Clinical observations (manuscript in
preparation) have noted that upon high intake of oral protease, heavy metal concentrations have been significantly
Fats are the most difficult component of the diet to digest. Fatty foods cause more indigestion than proteins or Most Americans have crossed-wires when it comes to fats. Because of bulging waistlines, most Americans
battle between fat-phobia and fat-craving. The human body is programmed to crave fats. Without essential fats and
fatty nutrients animals and humans cease to thrive. Omega-3 and Omega-6 fats from flaxseed and cold-water fish
were found to be essential for human health by physiologists in the 1930s. Fat-soluble nutrients such as beta
carotene, lutein, and vitamins A, D, E and K fulfil important functions in health maintenance. So fat isn’t all bad.
The American diet is intentionally laden with saturated fats and hardened hydrogenated fats, leaving about 80
percent of the population deficient in the essential fats required for the maintenance of the human nervous system,
the production of hormones and the control of inflammation.
Foods actually taste better when they contain fats. A famous fast-food quarter-pound hamburger actually has a
saturated fat content equivalent to 16 pats of butter! The fast-food engineers really know how to stimulate our taste
It is worth noting here that weight loss is a common finding among individuals with chronic heart failure. It is
evident that mal-absorption of fats is related to heart failure. In one study subjects with heart disease had ten times
more fat in their stool than health-healthy individuals. This means those with heart disease weren’t absorbing their
fats (Am J Cardiology 5:295, 1960). Yet heart patients are typically placed on low-fat diets! These individuals were
For these same reasons, fat blockers are undesirable. They keep fat from being absorbed, but they also keep
fatty nutrients from being available. Under-nutrition occurs in about half of the patients with chronic heart failure.
Fats are a major source of fuel for the heart muscle. The use of lipase has been suggested to improve fat
absorption (Am J Cardiology 8: 43, 19630).
It was not until 1997 that researchers found that lipase also can help to control LDL cholesterol and is helpful in Low levels of lipase have been found among adults who have benign fatty tumours surrounding their eyelids, an
unsightly condition called Xanthelasma. Adults with this condition often hide these fatty growths with makeup. While
lipase is untried in these cases, a course of daily lipase with meals may prove to be a remedy.
DO A LACK OF ENZYMES COMBINE WITH OTHER FACTORS BEFORE THEY MATERIALIZE AS A DISEASE?

• If each of us would take in more exogenous enzymes, meaning those from outside sources, our enzyme
reserve would not be depleted at such a rapid pace.
• A point of paramount importance is that a percentage of enzymes which are taken orally, or the ones already
present in raw food, can be absorbed in the intestines and utilized in the body’s metabolic processes helping
to prevent enzyme depletion. This is one of the most health-promoting measures that one could implement into their daily lifestyle. WHAT ARE ENZYME DEPLETORS?
At about 116 degrees Fahrenheit, all enzymes become inactive. Canned juices may have vitamin and
minerals, but the heating has made the enzymes inactive. Roasted breakfast cereals that we feed our children
are devoid of enzymes. Food processing, refining, cooking and more recently, the advent of microwaving are
detrimental processes that are causing dramatic changes in how we eat. Our food has been rendered
enzyme-deficient and may be causing imbalances in our organs, acting as a predisposing cause of disease.
This causes unwanted stress on the body tissues decreasing the longevity of the body.
HOW DOES ONE FORTIFY THE ENZYME POTENTIAL IN THE
There are three ways to preserve this potential. They are all based on reducing the amount of energy that we
spend on digestion. By some estimates, we spend up to 80 percent of all energy we have at our disposal
The first option is to eat more raw food. Within all raw foods there are food enzymes. These enzymes become
digesting enzymes when we eat these foods. By eating foods that have not been cooked, processed, irradiated
or heated above 116 degrees, we are extending our potential.
The second choice is to reduce the number of calories we consume. Be eating less we are ultimately
preserving vital energy (making less digestive enzymes) and again, extending our potential.
The third choice is perhaps the most obvious. Take a high quality digestive enzyme supplement with every
Is there such a thing as overdosing on enzymes?
No, however if a person is very toxic, they may get flu-like systems and are recommended to reduce the
dosage. Enzymes can stir up toxins that have been lying dormant for an extended period of time.
3. WHAT ENZYMES ARE AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET?
Most enzymes are available on the market. Enzymes that are a pharmaceutical grade nutriceutical are distributed by
health-care professionals and have the most activity.
Enzymes sold over the counter do not have the same activity and it is difficult to know the quality of the enzymes.
a/b. What are the pros and cons of plant and animal enzymes?
Enzymes are the energy of life. All supplemental enzymes, with very rare exceptions, can be beneficial to one
degree or another. If you must choose one, which would it be? When considering the benefits of animal (or
glandular, usually represented by USP) versus plant enzymes, the following may be helpful.
Animal enzymes, or pancreatic enzymes, are from the pancreas of a slaughter house animal. Ask yourself
“What was the condition of this animal and its organs before he was slaughtered.” How does anyone know?
Pancreatic enzymes tend to claim high unit amounts, such as thirty-one thousand and five hundred units of
protease. However, this amount, or unit measurement, does not indicate the actual enzyme activity level.
Thirty-one thousand and five hundred units of protease will yield a level of only 356 units of digestive activity.
Compare this to hundreds of thousands of actual protease activity in our plant based enzymes. Enzyme
effectiveness depends on activity not weight.
Don’t forget about the importance of the pH balance. Pancreatin requires a pH 8.0 to be of use in the system.
The human body reaches this pH 8.0 in the small intestine after major digestion has already taken place. Plant
enzymes have the capability to work between pH 3 and 10. They are blended as neutral, alkaline and acidic to
cover all concerns in our formulations. This means they work throughout the entire digestive tract and in the
blood. For instance, one English study showed a small dose of acid-stable lipase from a plant source was more
effective than a dosage 25 larger of conventional pancreatin in the treatment of malabsorption and malnutrition
c.How can we determine the strength and potency of natural plant enzyme supplements?
There are a number of enzyme supplement products on the market today. Only by analyzing the contents
labelling to compare products, can you be sure you are getting the best product available?
“Commercial enzymes” are one product you may come across. Commercial enzymes are of a lesser grade and
purity than pharmaceutical enzymes. They are less expensive to produce. They are also less potent. Enzyme
Research Products uses only pharmaceutical grade enzymes. Another thing to watch for on the label is fillers.
Fillers can be many things including leftover fibres or cellulose.
Looking at the label of an Enzyme Research product, you will find measurement units you may not be familiar
with. These are from the Food Chemical Codes (FCC). The FCC is published by the National Academy Press
and is the accepted standard of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The system for determining enzyme
potency used by the American food industry is derived from the FCC. This is the ONLY standard for evaluation
of fungal enzymes in the US. This system establishes activity levels and potency for enzymes.
With most foods, we are used to comparisons based on weight. With enzymes, we are interested in the activity
and potency available. This is no direct relationship between weight and units of activity.
The enzyme activity of all Enzyme Research products is measured and reported in FCC units. These unit
Protease – HUT (Haemoglobin Unit Tyrosine base)
Amylase – SKB (Alpha-Amylase Dextrinizing Units)
Invertase – Sumner (Invertase Activity Unit)
Maltase – DPº (Degrees Diastatic Power)
When comparing enzyme products, make sure measurements are listed using FCC standard codes. Some
manufactures make up their own abbreviations. Others use weight such as milligrams (mg). Still, others will list
measurements based on dosage that may be more than one capsule.
Because of the variety of labelling formats used, it is important to read carefully and make sure you are not
Will enzymes interfere with my vitamins or prescribed medication?
Every vitamin and mineral has to have a co-factor or enzyme for absorption. If a formulation does not contain
enzymes, the vitamins and minerals will go into the body and search and search for an enzyme. By the time the
enzymes are finally found, about 85 percent of the vitamins and minerals have already been excreted through
Pharmaceutical plant enzymes only breakdown and deliver natural food sources. Enzymes do not deliver
synthetics so they do not interfere with your medication.
Is there a relationship between enzymes and the blood type diet?
The body is not maintained by the food intake into the body, but by what is digested in the body. Food is only fuel for the body. We must eat more than enzyme deficient food; every day we must have proteins, fats,
carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals for good health. We must eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables.
You can live for many years on a cooked food diet but eventually this will cause enzyme exhaustion that lays
the foundation for a weak immune system and ultimately it may lead to distress in the body.
You can readily see why enzymes are a very important supplement and should be included in the blood diet for
