Thank you for your enquiry regarding the Diploma in Somatology and other programmes offered at the Isa Carstens Academy. The Isa Carstens Academy is in its 33rd year of existence offering exceptional training in the Health and Skin Care Industry. In order to uplift our industry and to offer a qualification of high esteem, the Isa Carstens Academy has met the requirements to register as a Private Provider. The Higher Education Act, 1997 (Act No. 101 of 1997), and the Regulations for the Registration of Private Higher Education Institutions 2002, make it compulsory for private institutions offering full qualifications in higher education, to register with the National Department of Higher Education and Training (NQF level 5 to 10). The Department of Higher Education and Training has the responsibility to evaluate institutions for registration, granting institutions legal authority to offer higher education programmes, enabling private higher education institutions to operate within the law. Before an institution and its programmes are registered, they must be accredited by the Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC). Accreditation means the institution has been assessed whether it has the resources, capacity and expertise to offer an acceptable standard of education. By complying with the requirements of the Higher Education Act and Regulations, the Isa Carstens Academy ensures that their students obtain qualifications that are aligned with the national qualifications framework (NQF) and are recognized qualifications and receive the quality education they deserve. Registered private higher education institutions are listed in the register of private higher education institutions and should have on display a certificate of registration and a registration number issued by the Department of Higher Education (Registration certificate number 2000/HE07/025). Tuition fee per annum will remain the same for the completion of the Diploma in Somatology. Uniforms, text books and accessories are obtainable at the Academy on registration day and are not included in the class fees. The cost of these items must be paid in full on registration day. The above fees do not include the costs of any national or international membership examinations which are undertaken during the third year of the course and will allow application for membership with the Professional Examining Bodies. Information in this regard will be made available during the second year of studies. The Isa Carstens® Academy reserves the right to adjust fees and costs in case of major unforeseen cost increases. The cost of accommodation and other personal needs are not included in the abovementioned fees. Study Loan
Arrangements to accommodate the payment of fees must please be made well in advance should it be necessary. We recommend that as soon as a student has been accepted by the Academy following the interview, application must be made at a financial institution for the granting of study assistance.
