Main Hazards Grey Squirrel Bait is not classified as hazardous. Large quantities would need to be ingested to produce a toxic effect. Avoid all contact by mouth. Practically non-hazardous by skin contact. Symptoms of poisoning: Spontaneous haemorrhage from the nose, into the skin or internal organs. Onset may be delayed. First Aid: If any of the above symptoms occur, particularly if there is known contamination (including on previous occasions): Stop work. Remove all contaminated clothing, wash exposed skin and hair. Prevent all exertion. Call doctor AT ONCE and show label. Guide to doctor: This product contains warfarin, an anticoagulant. Treatment: 1. Vitamin K1 (phytomenadione) 10-20mg orally (pro rata for children). Repeat daily until 2. In severe cases, transfusion of fresh, frozen plasma or blood may be indicated together 3. In some cases, symptoms may reappear if treatment is stopped prematurely. Prothrombin time should be monitored for 2 weeks after stopping vitamin K1. Confirmation of diagnosis: By estimating prothrombin time. This product is hazardous to mammals including domesticated animals, and birds if ingested. Exposure of non-target animals should be prevented. First Aid measures
Wash out mouth with water. Do not induce vomiting. Obtain medical attention. Remove from exposure. Obtain medical advice if symptoms develop. Wash out eye with plenty of water. Obtain medical advice if necessary. For comprehensive medical advice on the treatment of poisoning, contact the nearest Poisons Information Centre. See box 3 above for Symptoms, treatment, etc. Fire-fighting measures
This product is non-flammable, but is combustible. Use water spray, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide. Cool the smouldering material with water spray to minimise the possibility of re-ignition. Keep containers and surroundings cool with water spray. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus. Spillages
Any spillages should be cleared up immediately and disposed of safely. Wash contaminated Handling and Storage
The product must be used and stored only in accordance with the product label. Refer also to the section ‘Exposure Controls/Personal Protection’. Avoid all contact by mouth. Wash hands and exposed skin before meals and after work. Empty container completely and dispose of safely. Keep in original container under cool and dry conditions in a secure, well-ventilated place, inaccessible to children, and away from foodstuffs and animal feedstuffs.
