Malaria Prophylactics:
Discuss this in particular with your doctor. There are a couple of different ones you can take. Please
check www.CDC.gov website for more information.

**Recommended:
1. Doxycycline – taken daily 2 days prior to your arrival in Uganda, during the stay in Uganda and
and 30 days after your return to the states. One of the main side effects is greater sensitivity to the
sun. Check pricing – This drug has increased in price in the past year so check pricing.

2. Atovaquone-proguaniltaken daily 2 days prior to your arrival in Uganda, during the stay in
Uganda and 7 days after your return to the states. This tends to be more expensive than other
medications so please check pricing first.

This is an option but it is not recommended for Malaria:
3. Malarone (Lariam), taken once per week but it can be expensive (check price first).
** The Missionaries highly recommend you do not take Lariam. Lariam has been known to
have on occasion many ad side effects on occasion such as nightmares, black outs, slight to
obverse personality changes, insomnia, hallucinations. The F.D.A. Warns
the drug could
cause serious neurological and psychiatric side effects, some of which can become
permanent.

Yellow Fever: Even though yellow fever is only recommended when travelling from the US to
Uganda it is mandatory when travelling from a yellow fever country to Uganda. Since Uganda does
have yellow fever and Central Community Church is looking to travel to surrounding countries we are
making it a mandatory inoculation.
Every traveler must have the yellow fever inoculation and carry the yellow card which proves that the
person received it.
