Technical Data Sheet URKI-NATO URKI-NATO is a high quality polyurethane coating for the painting of machinery, industrial vehicles, structures and tanks, etc. both for in and outdoors applications. Excellent qualities regarding hardness, elasticity, resistance to abrasion and aggressive agents (water, detergents, petrol, grease, lubricants, etc.). Suitability: URKI-NATO is a high gloss polyurethane with high performance results for protecting all surfaces, both in- and outdoors. It provides maximum protection in all environments even in contact with some chemicals. Colour matching can be done with the URKI-SYSTEM. Base / Converter Ratio: 28 / 72 by volume ; 35 / 65 by weight. Surface Preparation: -
Steel: Degrease with SD-7 or SD-7/10 and prime with F-714 Shop Primer. When a higher anticorrosion protection is required, prime with F-294/2 Epoxy Primer or F-282/2 Epoxy Primer.
Galvanized: Degrease with SD-7 or SD-7/10. If old, brush and degrease with SD-7 or SD-7/10. Prime with F-294/2 Epoxy Primer, F-282/2 Epoxy Primer or F-286/2 Epoxy Shop Primer.
Mixing Ratio: 2 parts by volume URKI-NATO 1 part by volume E-225 (outdoors, aliphatic) / E-202 (outdoors, aliphatic, fast) / E-277 (indoors, aromatic) Spraying Viscosity: 20 – 22 seconds #4 Ford Cup (for airless systems: 35 – 40 seconds) Recommended spraying viscosity is achieved with reduction, as required, using URKISOL-900/P, URKISOL-8229, URKISOL-3700 or URKISOL-3795, depending on the temperature and other application conditions. In this case, the amount of reducer should be 25 – 30% in volume (for airless systems 8-12%). Minimum application temperatures must be over 5ºC (41ºF) and the surface to be painted must be at least 3ºC (5,4ºF) over the dew point temperature. Application Method:
Apply two single wet coats with 5 – 20 minutes between coats. On high solids primers and other absorbent solvent substrates, use greater care in achieving the required film thickness. URKI-NATO can be applied using most spray painting systems. Spray Gun Setup
Feed Type
Electrostatic Application: Reduce with URKISOL-222 in case of using equipment working with high resistivity. Use reducer URKISOL-224 for equipment working with low resistivity. Hardener E-225 can only be used with low-resistivity equipment. Leave the mixed product settle for about 15 minutes before painting.

Excellent qualities regarding hardness, elasticity, resistance to abrasion and aggressive agents (water, detergents, petrol, grease, lubricants, etc.). Pot life of mixed product: 5 hours (slightly less when E-202 is used) Recommended Film Thickness and Theoretical Cover Rate: URKI-NATO has a recommended film build thickness of 90 - 120 microns (3.50 – 4.70 mils) wet and 35 – 45 microns (1.38 – 1.77 mils) dry. Theoretical coverage is 12 – 13 m² (130 – 140 ft2) per litre (40 microns - 1.57 mils dry). Drying Time: Recoats or clear coating may be applied after 18 hours. Drying time will vary depending upon temperature, humidity, air flow, and other environmental factors. The following table is based on a temperature of 20ºC (68ºF) at 50% Relative Humidity. E-225
